William Halterman Obituary
He was born on October 28, 1950 in Staunton, VA and was the son of the late William Elwood Halterman, Sr. and Hazel Ruth Stuple Halterman.
Woody enjoyed camping, work and socializing with his friends.
On Thanksgiving Day 1970, he married the former Sarah Jarrels, who survives.
Surviving family members in addition to his wife of 55 years, is his sister, Twyla Austin and husband, Tom; sister-in-law, Miriam Clark and husband, Wally; brother-in-law, Mark Jarrels and wife, Bernadette; special friend, Lee Rosen; four nephews and one niece.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Tommy Lewis-Crosby officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Church Cemetery in Mt. Sidney.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2026, at the funeral home.

So sorry for the passing of Woody. Grew up with Woody in the Mt Sidney community. Played pick- up football with him and other friends and enjoyed his quick wit and humor. He certainly could keep you entertained. My condolences go out to his family and his close friends for the loss of Woody. He will be dearly missed but will always live on in our hearts and minds.
