William Corcoran Hartley, 92, of DeGraff, passed away peacefully at 5:45 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at his home. He was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on August 23, 1932, a son of the late Alfred King Hartley and Gladys Mary (Corcoran) Hartley.
On August 9, 1960, he married Betty Lou (Bishop) Hartley and she survives, along with their five children, Steven Hartley, Lisa (Matt) Johnson, Matt Hartley, Soozie Kohli, and Joe (Renee) Hartley; grandchildren, Breann Hartley, Forrest Hartley, Julius Hartley, Cierra Hartley, Cora Hartley, Lilly Kohli, Kailey Hartley, Ava Hartley, and Ethan Hartley; and a great grandson, Colton Hartley. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Darrell Kohli; a sister, Barbara Walsh; and a nephew, Tommy Kelleher.
A U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marine Korean War Veteran, William was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He served as a consultant for the state of Ohio as an arborist, taught Tai Chi, loved tying knots, and climbing.
Per William’s request, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
