William Head

William James Head, 73, passed away December 16, 2025 after a brief illness at UF Health Flagler Hospital in St Augustine with his wife and children by his side. Bill was born in Honolulu, HI on May 31, 1953 to Lloyd J Head and Ramona Mitte Head. He was the typical Army brat moving around wherever his father was stationed. Their homebase was in the Sarasota Bradenton area where he graduated from Southeast High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire as a crew chief mechanic on the FB-111 bombers. Upon release from the Air Force, he returned to Sarasota and began pursuing his career in law enforcement. He initially served as a reserve trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol before ultimately joining the Florida Marine Patrol and re-locating to St Augustine. Bill retired from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in 2007 after 37 years of service. Bill is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Pamela Head Harris. Bill is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jacqueline Lea Head, St Augustine; his son, Jared Head (Hannah), St Augustine; two daughters, Shelby Head Rizzi (Bryon), Miami, and Kalea Head, St Augustine; three grandchildren, Dawson Head, Harper Head and Elina Rizzi; three sisters, Ann Head Ortega (Benny), Woodville FL, Joan Lander, Sarasota FL and Mary Angela Eley, Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Michael Head, Sarasota FL; and a wide circle of family and friends. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading. In recent years on most days, you could find him parked under the oak trees near the Douglas Crane boat ramp in St Augustine South listening to music and reading.
