William Lee Hedrick, 81, of Cresaptown, died December 3, 2024, at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born June 19, 1943, he was the son of the late Louis and Esther (Johnson) Hedrick.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Robert "Lou" Hedrick, Richard Hedrick, James Hedrick, Barbara Folmer, and Rose Hill,
He was a graduate of Allegany High School. Following graduation, he served an enlistment in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Hedrick retired from Lowe's, having been a service technician.
He was a member of Aerie #2883, FOE, Cresaptown.
Bill was known by everyone in Cresaptown as "Mr. Fix-It" -- folks knew he could fix anything: TV, radio, car – you name it!
Survivors include his companion of 38 years, Cecelia "Helen" Preston and her son, Chris Preston; Bill's children, Sheila Swope, Janice Hedrick-Dawson, Brad Hedrick, and Brian Hedrick; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Monday from 5-7 PM.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 PM in the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce McBride, officiating.
Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, where military honors will be accorded by Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab Center (730 Furnace St., Cumberland, MD 21502) or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
