William Brooks "Billy" Hendrix Jr.

William Brooks Hendrix, Junior, 60, died at his home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Born in Winnsboro, SC, he was the son of the late William Brooks Hendrix, Senior and Nancy Blair Hendrix of Blair, SC.

He graduated from Richard Winn Academy in 1983 where highlights for him were playing football and singing in the chorus. Billy attended Wofford College, following in his beloved Grandfather Ray Blair's footsteps. He was fortunate enough to make lifelong friends at both schools.

Even though he was well-travelled and made it to all of Clemson's National Championship games, Billy's favorite place to be was Blair. Whether it was fishing, hunting, gardening, canoeing, riding his tractor, or just exploring the woods, he cherished his time on the land that meant so much to him.

Billy inherited his father's sense of humor! The crazy pranks he played on his family and friends are legendary! Everyone of us can tell a story about his shenanigans. We will sure miss his laughter!

Billy was a man of strong faith with an assurance of heaven as his eternal home. He grew up in Salem Presbyterian Church and was a current member of Newberry Reformed Presbyterian Church. Both churches meant so much to him during his life.

Billy is survived by his stepdaughter, Katie Hancock (Tyler), two sisters Catherine Asger (Ed) and Frances Porter (Johnny), his nieces and nephews Jake Asger, Brooks Asger (Emma), Chanie June (Adam), Brice Porter Williams (Brock), Nancy Blair Wright (Donnie), great nephews, Porter, Jack, Donnie Ray, and Roe, and great nieces, Aubree and Evie.

In addition to his parents, Billy is predeceased by his wife Catherine Smith Hendrix.

The family will receive friends at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 24, at Newberry Reformed Presbyterian Church. A funeral service celebrating his life will begin at 4:00 pm followed by burial at Salem Presbyterian Church.
