William Hickox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carl W. Hall Funeral Services on Feb. 22, 2025.
William R. "Wild Bill" Hickox of West Farmington, passed away February 20, 2025 knowing he was loved dearly by his family and friends. He is now reunited with his brothers and parents who he missed terribly.
Bill was born September 14, 1961 in Warren, Ohio the son of Dale and Carol Hickox. He was a lifelong resident of West Farmington, growing up on the family farm where his parents instilled the love of the country, the value of hard work, and working together. He was a hard worker, but had a unique way of always landing the roll of supervisor unless it came to taking care of the lawn. No one met his specifications and he took great pride in keeping the lawn-mowed with his Cub Cadet. Some of Bill's favorite farm activities included camping in the woods, fishing in the pond and hay rides on the farm. As he rode through town, he waved to each person he saw. Bill never knew a stranger.
Bill attended Fairhaven school in Niles, Ohio graduating in 1982, transitioning to the Sheltered Workshop where he was a proud member of the mowing crew. Bill was a member of Farmington Community Church and enjoyed being asked to usher on Sundays.
As an adult, Bill proudly continued residing as a "bachelor" at the family farm with the support of his providers Kim Stevens, Jacki Mitton, and Julie Sloan. The family is forever grateful for their care keeping Wild Bill in line, but most of all, treating him like family and embracing the chaos with patience, guidance, and laughter.
Bill was an avid Cleveland fan supporting the Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians, but never fully accepting the name of Guardians. He always started the year out with great hope, but more times than not he ended the year with his eternal optimism. There is always next year.
He was the number one fan of King Brother's Racing and the Bristol Panthers. He would memorize schedules and remind providers and family of his availability to attend. He could tell you the date and placing of Rex and Cooter's race, where they stood in the poll, which cars were broken and which parts Russ needed to order. He knew the scoring records of each Panther basketball player and proudly sat behind the team offering encouragement, fist bumps, and occasional advice to Coach Giesy. His favorite memories included riding in the hauler to races, and cutting down the net when the Panthers won the district championship.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dennis and Ron Hickox. Left to cherish his memories are his sister Joyce (Bill) Badenhop, Sisters in law Debi Hickox and Charlene Hickox, nieces and nephews Brian Humphries, Denise Saunders, Erica Renz, Chris Badenhop, Morgan Badenhop, Melissa Hickox, and Katelyn Hickox along with many great nieces and nephews.
The checkered flag is waved, the race is won! A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at West Farmington Community Church where friends may call from 1:00pm until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider donations in Wild Bill's memory to Fairhaven Industries or the Bristol Athletic Department.

Dear Joyce, the boys, Larry and I just learned of Billy`s passing. I thank you for all the wonderful memories. Billy gave my sons. We loved your father and your mother and your brothers so dearly. I often think of you and your beautiful face and how kind you are. I especially remember our trip to Texas and I´m so grateful that I had that special time with you. Love, Nora.
