Mr. William "Shayne" Hoarty

Mr. William "Shayne" Hoarty, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved husband of Mary (Kelley) Hoarty, passed away at the Boston Medical Center on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the age of 70.
Born in Vacaville, California, on August 3, 1954, he was the beloved son of the late Charles L. and Carole L. (Spencer) Hoarty. Shayne was a proud graduate of Medford High School, a Marine Corps veteran, and a retired Medford firefighter after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
In his spare time, Shayne, affectionately known as "Grumps," loved "Anything Kacie." Kacie, his granddaughter, was the light of his life. He cherished watching her play tennis, performing magic tricks with her, and spending as much time together as possible. Shayne also enjoyed visiting Engine 6, where he spent many years working during his firefighter days. A lover of hockey and Irish music, he could often be found listening to the Irish Hit Parade. His early days were spent down at Harris Park with childhood friends; the memories and stories from that time will last forever.
Shayne is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Kelley) Hoarty; daughter and son-in-law, Kellie M. and her husband Chris J. Jenke of Billerica; sister, Dawn Foley of Malden; brother, Mark Hoarty and his wife Maureen of Pelham, NH; brother of the late Laura Devlin; granddaughter, Kacie K. Jenke of Billerica; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Raphael Church, 514 High Street, Medford, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 4 to 8 PM.
