William Benjamin Holland Jr.

William Benjamin Holland, Jr., died peacefully at his river home in Carrabelle, Florida on July 25, 2024. Born on October 11, 1950 in Lakeland, Florida, Bill lived in Winter Haven, where his father practiced law, until age 12 when he moved to Tallahassee along with his mother, brother, and sister. The remainder of his life he was a resident of Tallahassee, his mother's hometown.
Bill's business classes at Santa Fe Community College and Tallahassee Community College set the stage for what was to become his true calling--heating and air conditioning; he received his state license in HVAC work in 1993. Over the next 30 years, he built and operated a successful small business--Bill Holland Heating and Air Conditioning. He continued to work until the end of his life, evidence of his dedication to his trade. However, his success would not have been possible without the support of his many friends, clients, and colleagues over the years. He often spoke of these relationships with respect and gratitude.
Bill was an avid saltwater fisherman who loved the outdoors and spent many happy days on the water with his brother and friends. As a young adult, he enjoyed birding with his Holland grandparents in Florida and the Washington, D.C. suburbs. These interests continued throughout his life. On the flip side, Bill's most recent fun obsession was a 1968 Camaro SS he was having restored. It's a beaut!
Bill joins his mother, Claudia Croy Burton (Tallahassee); father, William Benjamin Holland (Winter Haven); brother, Spessard Lindsey Holland III (Tallahassee); maternal grandparents, George P. and Minnie C. Croy (Tallahassee) and paternal grandparents, Spessard L. and Mary Groover Holland (Bartow, FL); and several aunts and uncles in eternal life. He is survived by his sister, Claudia Croy Holland and aunt, Gail Croy, both of Tallahassee; nephew, Wyatt C. McBride (Denver, CO); aunt, Ivanhoe Holland Craney (Winter Haven); and numerous loving cousins residing in Florida, Alabama, California, New York, and Oklahoma.
A memorial service will be held in the Trinity United Methodist Church chapel in Tallahassee, August 24, 2024 at 10:30 a.m.
