Billy Hourihan loved being a firefighter and the camaraderie and brotherhood that comes with the profession. He worked for the Town of Weston and was with its fire department for over 30 years rising through the ranks having achieved Lieutenant. He enjoyed retirement in 2013.
William James Hourihan was born October 21, 1951 in Cambridge a son of the late William J. and Marie (Hastings) Hourihan. Raised in Cambridge he was a graduate of Rindge Technical High School. A longtime Waltham resident he later lived in Chelmsford and lastly, in Moultonborough, New Hampshire.
Outside of work Bill loved time on his boat on Lake Winnipesaukee and was an avid fisherman.
Bill died Monday, December 1, 2025 in Laconia Rehabilitation Center in Laconia, New Hampshire. He was 74.
He leaves his children, Brian M. Hourihan of Waltham, Mary F. Vallerand of Nashua, New Hampshire and Kevin P. Hourihan of Provincetown; his grandchildren, Brian M. Hourihan II and Kenneth Hourihan, Matthew, Brooke and Hailey Vallerand; his sister, Linda Patterson (Brian) of Chantilly, VA. Brother of the late Michael Hourihan (late Donna); also survived by nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bill’s life by gathering for a Morning Wake from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, before leaving in procession to Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon. Burial in Calvary Cemetery is private.
