Honorable Judge William Bryant Huff, Ret. Gwinnett Superior Court Judge, age 93, of Broxton, Georgia formerly of Lawrenceville, Georgia, died on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Brightmoor Hospice in Macon, Georgia.
Born on October 4, 1932, in Lawrenceville, Georgia to the late Thomas L. Huff and Mattie Sue Harris Huff. He was a lifelong resident of Gwinnett County until moving to South Georgia.
Judge Huff attended Lawrenceville Elementary and graduated in the class of 1949 from Lawrenceville High School where he was the Class President and Salutatorian. He went to the University of Georgia for a year and attended the Old Atlanta Law School from 1951-1952. He passed the Georgia Board exam in December 1951. He was sworn in as Superior Court Judge by Judge Clifford Pratt in January 1952 at the age of 19, the youngest ever to achieve that destination. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War entered as an Army Security Agent, served in legal and personnel affairs office in Fort Devens, MA from June 1952 to June 1955. After being discharged from service, he returned to Lawrenceville to practice law as an attorney in September 1955. He became Solicitor, appointed by Governor Jimmy Carter in 1972 as District Attorney of the Gwinnett Judicial Circuit until 1984. In 1986, he was elected Gwinnett County Circuit Superior Court Judge until retirement on November 1, 1992. He loved to "Hobo" to Florida taking train trips and once met "Boxcar Willie." He lived a life of adventure and a dedication to the law.
Judge Huff is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Deb-Riley Huff; daughter and son-in-law, Marianne Huff and Tim Chandler; four grandchildren, Jessica and Michael Gill, Samantha and Dustin Wilkerson, Christina Huff and Mathew Huff; two great grandsons, Townsend Gill and Woodson Gill; wife, Sherry E. Huff; numerous cousins, other relatives and friends. Judge Huff was preceded in death by son, William Huff.
A Private Family Graveside Service was held on January 18, 2026, at 12:00 o'clock at the Shadowlawn Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Georgia. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com.
