William R. Jalbert

Palmer- William Rene "Bill" Jalbert, 88, passed away July 6, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 2, 1936 in Farmington, Maine to the late Rene and Tola (Whitman) Jalbert. Bill attended Palmer High School and proudly served his country as a Sgt. in the Marine Corps during the Korean War era. After his honorable discharge, Bill worked as a carpenter for over 30 years. He was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 74 in Three Rivers, member of Club 13, served as a board member on the Three Rivers Fire District Prudential Committee for over 10 years, and was a member of Divine Mercy Parish where he offered his work and assistance for many years.Bill was a competitive sportsman and enjoyed watching all New England sports with his wife, Janet. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always made it a priority to attend their sporting events whenever he could.Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Shelly Majka, and his siblings, Nancy Cavanaugh, Jewel Kumpulanian, and David Jalbert.Bill will be greatly missed by his wife of 59 years, Janet (Bernier) Jalbert; children, Gary (Mary) Majka, David Majka, Craig (Betty-Jo) Jalbert, and Sherrie (Guy) Bellefleur; grandchildren, Scott, Meghan, Michael, Marissa, Shannon, Shawn, Danielle, Jean-Luc, Logan, Sylvie, and Laura; and 4 great-grandchildren. He also leaves his siblings, Norma Russo, Joyce Laviolette, and Thomas Jalbert, as well as many dear friends. Visitation will be held on Monday July 15, 2024 from 4-7pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held the following morning, July 16, 2024, at 10am at Divine Mercy Parish. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home at 9am for our funeral procession. Burial will immediately follow in St. Anne's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory can be made to Baystate Hospice, 30 Capital Dr. West Springfield, MA 01089.
