Joas, William J. age 89 of East Troy, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on February 6, 2023. Bill was a 54 year resident and active businessman in the East Troy community. As a young man he proudly served his country as an Army Clerk Medic at Fort Leonard Wood. He served on the East Troy Village Board and various sub committees for many years making many a friend and foe. He was also an active member of St. James United Methodist Church serving on various boards throughout the years and volunteering his time. Bill was involved with the first corn and brat roast on our village square through the Chamber of Commerce. Bill was also a retired member of the East Troy Volunteer Fire Department and was an arson investigator for several years. Bill was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carolyn Marshall on June 16, 1956. They were married for 57 years until Carolyn's passing in 2013. Bill is survived by his children Marshall(Chris O'Shea), Mitchell(Wendy), Matthew(Lynne) and Marolyn(Scott)Komperud. Proud Grandpa to Michelle Bralick(Tim McEvoy), Marshall John Joas(Anita), Samantha(Peter) Koehler,Kiley and Conner Komperud, Ava Joas, Angela King(Josh Stedman), Eric King(Jennifer). Proud great Grandpa of Kane, William, Sebastian, and Lilly, Cole Koehler, Charlie and Riley King, and Addilyn Edwards, close friends Dave, Dan, and Jim, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn as well as his 5 siblings. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 18, 2023 at St. James United Methodist Church. Visitation will take place from 10am to 12 noon with a short service to follow at noon. Join the family following the service for a meal in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers Bill has asked that donations be made to St. James United Methodist 2945 Main St East Troy, Wi. 53120 or East Troy Family and Community Resource Center P.O. box 962 East Troy, Wi 53120.
