Deacon William Edward Jones, 91, of South Hill, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Chase City Health and Rehab.
Deacon Jones was born October 2, 1932 in Fairmont, NC to the late John Wesley and Delia Taylor Jones. He attended the schools of Robeson County, NC and was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Chase City, VA. He was a retired farmer and truck driver. Deacon Jones loved to talk and joke around; he touched many lives by just being himself.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, three brothers and eight sisters.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Clara Cheatham Jones of South Hill, VA; son, Richard Woody of Boydton, VA; three daughters, Theresa Jones of Columbia, SC, Doris Hayes of Augusta, GA and Clarice Freeman of South Hill, VA; eighteen grandchildren and forty-seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Christine Johnson of White Plains, NY; three sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
A memorial service for Deacon William Edward Jones will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Raleigh M. Bagley, III officiating.
Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Online condolences may be expressed at www.harrisfhc.com.
