On Friday, November 29, at 10:23 a.m., Pat passed away at Hospice of the Panhandle with his family at his side. William Patrick Kain, the second child of the late Morris Kain Jr. and Evelyn Kain, was born in Charles Town General Hospital on January 16, 1961.
Pat, as the family called him, was an incredible man who loved to joke and always had a smile. His greatest joy in life was his granddaughter Alessia, and everyone could feel the love he had for her when he talked about her. Plus, Pat was so very proud of the man and father Shawn was. He enjoyed sitting in the garage, watching his son and granddaughter doing whatever project they were doing that day. Before COVID, he enjoyed going to breakfast with his mom, sister, and Wayne at Golden Corral, the old Billie's, or Needful Things; breakfast was his favorite meal. His last wish was to come home for Thanksgiving, and his family made it possible by bringing him from Ruby Hospital to hospice on Monday night. His Thanksgiving was a beautiful display of love as he was surrounded by his family.
Pat left to mourn his passing, but also to keep his memory alive: his mom, Evelyn, his wonderful son Shawn (Sarah), his beautiful granddaughter Alessia, his sister Penny (Wayne), and his brothers Keith and Scott (Jessica). His nieces and nephews, Ashley McDonald (Derrick) and Lauren Baldwin (Michael), who always said they were his favorite, Heather Combs (Scottie), Michael Kain (Nettie), Brett Caraway, K.W. Kain (Sarah), Amber Tomlin (Adam), Sherri Kain, Anna Kain, David Kain, Shawna Dissinger (Keir),17 great nieces and nephews, and Special Friend Laura Smith.
He was predeceased by his dad, Morris, his sister, and his cohort in crime as little ones Kandy Caraway, Grandparents Morris Sr. and Pearl Kain, Jake and Francis Painter, sister-in-law Missy Kain, Uncle Kenneth Kain, and great nephew Memphis James Baldwin.
Per Pat's wishes, he did not want a funeral but A Celebration of Life. This will be announced at a later date. Pat, we will love and miss you until we meet again.
