William “Bill” Curtis Kelehar, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at his home in South Boston, Virginia, on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the age of 81. Bill was married to the love of his life, Patricia, for 28 years. He was deeply devoted to his family, his community, his country, and the Lord.

Born on May 24, 1944, in Miami, Florida, Bill was the son of the late Levy Kelehar and the late Florence Hullick Kelehar. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia; three sons, Brian Kelehar of Drakes Branch, VA, Ron Kelehar (Karen) of San Antonio, TX, and Justin Throckmorton (Casey) of South Boston, VA; and two daughters, Becky Jackman (Don) of Clarksville, TN, and Mitzi McCormick (Jason) of South Boston, VA. He cherished his grandchildren—Preston and Trevor Riddle, Calvin and Camryn Throckmorton, Tulisha Scott, Steven Jackman, Curtis, Joel, and Joey Kelehar, Brandi Trace, and Morgan, Noah, and Hannah Kelehar—and was blessed with 15 great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University. Bill proudly served his country in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army from 1963 - 1983 rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class and retiring with honors after a distinguished military career.

After moving to Halifax County in 1996, Bill brought with him a wealth of business experience. He joined Annin Flagmakers (formerly Dettra Flag), where he served as plant manager and director of operations for 16 years until his retirement in 2011. Prior to that, he worked with Aquatic (formerly Lasco Bathware), first as materials manager and later as plant manager. Before settling in Halifax County, Bill lived in Charlotte County and worked at the Russell Stover plant in Clarksville.

Bill was actively involved in his community, serving in leadership roles with the Halifax County Chamber of Commerce, the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region, and the Industrial Development Authority. He served on the Chamber’s Board of Directors from 2003 to 2006 and as chairman in 2005–2006. In 2007, he was honored as the Chamber’s Business Person of the Year. He was also a proud member of the American Legion. After retirement, Bill and Patricia shared a love of travel and adventure, enjoying more than 50 cruises together.

Even greater than his professional accomplishments, Bill was a man of deep faith and a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Gardens in South Boston, where he will receive full military honors. A funeral service will be held at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Thursday, November 6, at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Vance Midgett officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Halifax County Cancer Association, PO Box 1891, Halifax, VA 24558.
