William A. Koubek of Mountainside, N.J., formerly of Philadelphia, PA and Highland Mills, NY passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022, in Overlook Hospital, Summit, NJ at the age of 81.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave, Berkeley Heights. The funeral will begin in the funeral home on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 9 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Peace Church, South St., New Providence, NJ. William was born in Manhattan, N.Y. and was raised in Queens, N.Y. He was the son of Stanley and Alexandra (Borowski) Koubek. He married his beloved wife, Louise (Wennekes) Koubek and they raised their family in Philadelphia, PA.
William received his bachelor's degree from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and worked as a Maritime Propulsion Engineer for the Department of Navy in Brooklyn before transferring to the Philadelphia Navy Yard. He retired after 35 years of service. A past Knights of Columbus member Council #12384, an Eagle Scout, and an honorary member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, he was an avid organic gardener, scrabble player and enjoyed crabbing with his family at the Jersey shore.
William is survived by his loving children Michael Koubek and daughter-in-law, Roberta, and Kristina Edel and son-in-law, John; his cherished grandchildren Katharine, Timothy, John, and Emily; his dear nieces Colette and Renee and grand-niece Theresa and grand-nephew Anthony. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Louise Koubek, grand-nephew Ryan LaForge, and his cherished granddaughter, Julianna Edel.
