William J. Kowall (Bill)
July 15, 1946 – November 7, 2024
William J. Kowall, known as Bill to all who knew him, a dedicated husband, beloved father, cherished grandfather, and kind soul, passed away peacefully at his home on November 7, 2024, at the age of 78.
Born on July 15, 1946, in Donora, Pennsylvania, Bill was the son of Walter and Violet Kowall. He was one of seven siblings: Patty Amoroso (deceased), Camille Gaskill (deceased), Barbara Kowall (deceased), Louise Kowall, Sam Kowall, and Jack Kowall. Bill grew up in Donora, surrounded by love, and developed the values of hard work, loyalty, and kindness that he carried throughout his life.
In December of 1964, Bill joined the United States Navy, where he proudly served for 26 years. In the summer of 1967, while stationed in San Diego, California, Bill met the love of his life, Francese Kowall. The two were married on August 30, 1968, and shared 46 years of love and companionship before Fran's passing. Bill was an extremely proud veteran, and his service to his country remained a central part of his identity.
Bill's greatest joy came from his children: Kristen Rodrigues (Tony), Erika Kowall (Brandon Galemore), and John Armstrong (Sandra Birch). He was deeply proud of their accomplishments and cherished the time spent with them. Bill was also a devoted grandfather to AJ, Leah, Abrina, John II and Rebekah, and a great-grandfather to AJ, Reign, Aubree, and Crew, who were the light of his life.
After retiring from the military, Bill worked for the United States Postal Service for 21 years, retiring in 2015 at the age of 68. He took great pride in his work and continued to serve his community with dedication and care.
A man of few words but boundless wisdom, Bill's legacy lives on in the lessons he imparted, his unwavering devotion to family, and his generous spirit. His witty one-liners and timeless sayings will be missed by all who knew him.
A graveside service to honor Bill's life and service will be held at Lemoore Cemetery on December 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
