William "Bill" Kunisch, age 83, of Sebewaing, passed away January 12, 2025 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro.
Bill was born on June 2, 1941, the son of Norman Kunisch and Dorothy (Beck) Kunisch and his stepmothers, Esther (Loll) Kunisch and Doris (Reubelt) Kunisch. He graduated from Sebewaing High school in 1959. He went to work immediately at Kunisch Clothing in Sebewaing and worked to expand the business to include stores in Pigeon, Bad Axe, Vassar, Alma, Sandusky, Greenville, and Gaylord. In 1962, Bill enlisted in the Army and later the National Guard. He was a member of the Sebewaing American Legion Post #293. Bill was an avid duck hunter and fisherman, logging many days at Fish Point and on Saginaw Bay.
He is preceded in death by his brother, James Kunisch of Gaylord.
He is survived by his wife, Aileen Ziehm-Kunisch, his sons: Fr. William Kunisch of Honolulu and Eric Kunisch (Jorri Novak) of Midland, grandchildren: Ella Kunisch and Andrew Kunisch of Midland, Haley Novak of Chicago and Carter Novak of East Lansing; and his sister, Peggy (Rocky) Hansen of Rockford and his sister-in-law, Marge Kunisch of Gaylord.
A special thank you goes to the medical teams at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon, Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw, and Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro.
The visitation and service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, Inc. in Sebewaing. The visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 12pm. Karen and Steve Bouverette will be officiating. A military service from the Sebewaing Legion and VFW will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Ducks Unlimited, Bay Port Community of Christ Church or the Dementia Society of America.
