Kenneth Kunisch Obituary

Kenneth S. Kunisch

Kenneth Storms Kunisch, "Kenny," of Manchester Center, Vermont joined his parents Mike and Bobbie Kunisch in heaven after a courageous battle against cancer on Monday, June 14, 2021. Kenny was a loving husband to his wife Jamie; an amazing dad to the pride and joy of his life, sons Jackson (12), Hudson (11) and Harrison (6); caring brother to Chris & Jean Kunisch of Allendale, NJ, Craig & Denise Kunisch of Warwick, NY and Katie & Pete Ohnegian of Ramsey NJ; wonderful son-in-law to Tom & Franci Carieri of Manchester, VT; fantastic grandson-in-law to Larry & Laney Davis of Dorset,VT; fond brother-in-law of Samantha & Jeffrey Feldschneider of Atlanta, GA and fun-loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is survived by countless aunts, uncles & cousins that cherish so many memories of ski trips, beach days & family vacations. Kenny grew up in Allendale, NJ, graduated from Northern Highlands High School, earned a business degree from St. Michael's College in Winooski, VT and went on to get his masters in skiing, hiking and ourdoorsmanship in Squaw Valley, CA. Kenny's career was spent in hospitality. He grew up working in his family's restaurants in New Jersey, the Allendale Bar & Grill and Mahwah Bar & Grill, moved to Vermont to own and operate the Manchester Bar & Grill and went on to work for Stratton Mountain, most recently as a Director of Food & Beverage. Kenny's favorite job was dad. He cared deeply for his family and was a devoted husband and father. His boys were his greatest life work and he relished in watching them grow and excel. He spent time coaching baseball, showing them the ropes on the slopes and instilling in them the beauty of the outdoors. Kenny also dedicated time to the Stratton Foundation, a community-based nonprofit that cares about the health and well-being of children and families in Southern Vermont. Kenny's caring personality, bright smile & huge heart resulted in forging lifelong friendships throughout every chapter of his life. His friends from youth, college buddies, co-workers and guests will remember his kindness, warmth and loyalty that resulted in sense of family. Unquestionably taken from us way too soon, Kenny lived long enough to exemplify what a truly well lived life looks like. He loved each and every day, prioritized family, bellow-laughed & enjoyed each moment with friends and saw each new day as a new beginning. He never gave up in his tireless fight against cancer but more importantly never gave up on his endless joy of life; living more in the year since his diagnosis than most live in a lifetime. After treatments began, Kenny still skied power, attended Yankee games, enjoyed an epic journey to Exuma, Bahamas, road tripped to the Jersey shore and saw countless innings of his boys' baseball games. While his physical touch may be gone, his imprint, impact & presence will live on forever. He will be missed and remembered by all he shared his journey with. Visitation will be held at Brewster-Shea Funeral Home in Manchester Center, Vermont on Friday, June 18th from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral and remembrance ceremony will be at Burr & Burton Academy's E.H. Henry Gym on Saturday, June 19th at 10am. A New Jersey celebration of Kenny's life is planned for a future date.
