William R Landis

HERNDON - William (Bill) R. Landis, 88, of Herndon, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 7, 2026, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland. Born on March 29, 1937, in Millersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Elvin and Grace (Schaffer) Landis. In March 1960, he married Anna K. Rothermel, who preceded him in death in 2007.

A lifelong farmer, Bill managed dairy, livestock, and grain operations. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and spending time with his family. Known for his constant smile, he was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Bill was a member and trustee of the Klingerstown Fire Co. for over 60 years. Bill servrd in every capacity starting with secretary all the way thru cheif ending with trustee at his death. Bill was a 4-H leader and founder of the Lower Northumberland Dairy Club. His other memberships included Herndon Lodge 702 since 1996, the Pennsylvania Dairyman Association board, and the Gratz Fair livestock committee for over 60 years. He was a member of Himmels Church in Rebuck.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen (Richard) Troutman and Sharon (Michael) Salcone; a son, Timothy (Jacki) Landis; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Angela) Troutman, Scott (Melissa) Troutman, Dr. Sarah Salcone-Maio (Joseph), Evan Salcone, Eli Strawser (Mackenzie), Isaac Bell (fiancée Jennifer Raup), Ainsley Landis and Thaddeus Landis; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Emma, Olivia, and Julianna Troutman, and Lacey Strawser; and a brother, Leo (Nancy) Landis.

A visitation will be held at Himmels Church, 107 Covered Bridge Road, Dornsife, PA, on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Services will begin at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Jane Compton, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
