William Lee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jacobs Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Iron Mountain on Mar. 31, 2026.
Iron Mountain – William "Bill" H. Lee, Jr., 78, of Iron Mountain, MI, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson, Iron Mountain, MI.

He was born on June 9, 1947, in Iron Mountain, MI, to the late William H. Sr, and Ivy P. (Tremain) Lee.

Bill was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School, class of 1965. After graduation, he attended Michigan State University, and later completed his Bachelor of Science Degree at Northern Michigan University in 1969. He taught in Breitung Township from 1971 until 1975, when he started his own logging business. He owned and operated the business from 1976 until his retirement in 2010.

During his lifetime, Bill was caring and compassionate, and helped anyone he saw in need. He lived hard and loved harder. His zest for life shone brightly, and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his son, Jason Lee; daughters, Tara (Andy) Filizetti, and Andie (Danny Chen) Lee; brother, David (Doris) Lee; seven grandchildren; nephew, David (Michelle) Lee; niece, Emmy (Mike) Setzer; and special friends, Pete and Teresa Rossato.

There will be an informal gathering on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at 415 East Grant Street, to remember Bill as we begin his journey by distributing his ashes to select loved ones.

After we have had ample time to start Bill on his journey, we will meet back up to celebrate his life with a party, as Bill desired – allowing him to live on in the laughter and happiness of our shared memories and experiences of his journey with us in life as we bid him farewell together. This celebration will be announced at a later date to be held in the warmer weather of summer 2027. We look forward to celebrating with you all.
