William Leonard Obituary

BOARDMAN - William E. Leonard, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025 with his loving family by his side, at the age of 86.

Born on October 2, 1939, in Youngstown, spent his life devoted to his family and his work.

A graduate of Ursuline High School and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bill retired as a supervisor from GM Lordstown.

His faith was deeply important to him, and he actively participated in St. Christine Church, where he contributed to their Homebound Ministries and the Novena, providing support and companionship to those in need.

Bill was a man of many passions; he had a profound love for football and golf. However, nothing brought him more joy than the time spent with his family. He was a devoted husband, inspiring father, and a beloved grandfather. His greatest legacy lives on in the love and values he instilled in his family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Diana L. Slee, whom he married May 14, 1966; three children, Lisa (Stephen) Bednarski of Solon, Kelli Leonard of Boardman, and Lancey (Meghan) Leonard of Streetsboro; grandchildren, Abigail, Emily, Margaret and Katherine; a great granddaughter, Anastasia; and many nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents, John and Aileen Gibbons Leonard; a sister, Alice Traikoff; and brothers, John "Bud" and Richard Leonard.

Friends and family are invited to gather for the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Christine Church, which will take place on December 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Following the services, Bill will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.

Professional arrangements are being handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
