William F. Levings, Sr., 85, of Superior, died Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Essentia-St. Mary's Superior.
William was born on March 30, 1939, the son of Bennett and Ethel (Wermter) Levings. He worked as a welder for Frasier Shipyards before becoming a truck driver for Botten's Trucking and other local companies.
He loved to be in nature. He enjoyed reading, gardening, playing guitar and singing. He was a great storyteller and loved to laugh. William was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous and loved the community and friends he made in the program.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandy Leef.
William is survived by his children, Brenda (Don) Albright of Poplar, Charles (Lynn) Levings of Duluth, Elizabeth Levings of Hawaii, and Will Levin of Duluth; grandchildren, Emily, Nirvana, and Mackenzie Albright, Tanner and Faith Levings, Justin Smith, Syndi, Natacha and Justin Levings; sisters, Lorretta Severson of Duluth and Francy (Bob) Chammings of Carlton, MN.
Visitation will be held on Thursday Sept. 26th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th St. in Superior. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
If desired, memorials in William's name may be made to the John Club – Alano Society, 1609 John Ave., Superior or to the Friends of the Bird Sanctuary, www.fotbs.org.
