William “Bill” Lightbody, 82, of Crystal Lake, passed away on Sunday, May 5th, 2024.
He was born September 29th, 1941 in Libertyville, the son of the late William Sr., and Mary (nee Portegys) Lightbody.
Bill grew up as an outdoorsman and continued to embrace it throughout much of his life. He was very active with Crystal Lake’s Boy Scout Troop 168. As a car enthusiast, Bill enjoyed everything from fixing cars to watching car races. He also loved tinkering with all things mechanical.
Bill is survived by his children, Joell (Eric) Maier, Mark and Eric Lightbody; his grandchildren, Jasmine and Erin Maier; his sisters, Mabel Sutton, Frances Inman, Nancy Remeica, Charlene (Orin) Hapke, and Paulette (Charles) Peters; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Lightbody; and his siblings, Mary Helen, Louise, Dorothy, Alice, Margaret, and Bob.
Friends are welcome to visit with Bill’s family on Saturday, June 8th, 2024 from 11 a.m., until the time of the memorial service at 1 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake.
Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to a Boy Scout Troop of your choice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
