William Dana Lippman

William Dana Lippman a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend at the ripe young age of 89, crossed over on December 14, 2022 at his beloved Holmby Hills, California residence. William, son of Adelaide Jacobs and Martin Lippman, also referred to as "Billy" or "Lippy", was born October 6, 1933 and raised in Providence, Rhode Island. He served in the Korean War. William graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School Of Business and later earned his MBA from NYU Stern School of Business. Ensuing was a fifty-year plus career in municipal bond trading and underwriting. After early success in New York, William drove cross-country with his new bride to Los Angeles and made his mark, creating a legacy of accomplishments through his work at Hornblower & Weeks, Smith Barney, and finally Citigroup. William was one of the early experts in community redevelopment and land based (Dirt Bonds) finance. His expertise in trading and underwriting in this sector of the municipal bond market was legendary, and he was often referred to as a Titan in the business.

William had many diverse interests away from finance that included American art, Early American furniture, antique Persian carpets, Native American Indian art and German luxury automobiles. Being an avid reader, his knowledge in these fields made for great conversation and a fascinating and valuable learning experience. Also, a connoisseur of great food and fine wine, William enjoyed sharing his varied passions with those he met and dined with.

William is predeceased by his devoted (long-suffering) wife of many years Valerie, and is survived by his daughter Wendy, his son Christopher, and grandchildren Lauren and Dillon, as well as a posse of professional colleagues and personal admirers at Holmby Hills Park.

A celebration of life will be held at his home March 4, 2023 at 3p.m. Family members request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in special memory of his wife.
