Obituary of William "Bill" Litvak
Funeral service honoring him and Paulina Litvak to take place on Sunday, 4/14, at 10am at Feldman Mortuary chapel. Burial for Bill to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Service live streamed via Feldman Mortuary's YouTube Channel.
William "Bill" Litvak, Denver; Husband of Paulina Litvak; Father of Dianna (Brian Winn) Litvak, Marcy (William Pockman) Litvak, Karen (Jamus) Skelton; Grandfather of Allison & Emily Winn, Ella & Lucy Pockman.
Bill was born and raised on the west side of Denver, went to North High School, attended both CU in Boulder and DU for his undergraduate degree and DU for law school. He was the youngest of four siblings, including Henrietta, Jack, and Larry and particularly close with Henrietta throughout their lives. He practiced family law in Denver for 40 years, first with his brother Larry before starting his own practice. He loved to fix things and tinker, and finding the perfect part at the hardware store. As a teenager, he loved his father and uncle's auto wrecking shop, Ace Auto Wrecking near the Tivoli Brewery, and helping his dad at the yard. He found great happiness on his boat, after a long day of waterskiing, at Horsetooth Reservoir, Pueblo Reservoir and Lake Powell, particularly at sunset, with a scotch on the rocks in his hand. His favorite pastimes after retiring were exercising, traveling with his wife, Paulina, listening to classical music and watching the Colorado Rockies and Broncos.
He was a really supportive dad, someone we all knew we could count on to make us laugh, be in our corner, give excellent, level-headed advice, and to help with whatever we needed. One of our favorite things was him saying, "Use your head", as we headed off on one adventure or another. We all learned so many lessons from him- honesty, the importance of family and being there for one another. He was very generous and took great pride in donating to charities that were important to him. We will carry it all into the next generation. He and our stepmom, Paulina, were married for almost 44 years. They did everything together, and were a great team. She took incredible care of him, especially in his last years. We know he loved us, as well as his granddaughters, sons-in-law, nieces and nephews. We will miss him greatly, but we are comforted by many wonderful memories and know that he lived a long, full life.
