William C. Ludemann Jr., 71, of Mentor, passed away at 3:18 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, at U.H. Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.
Born March 18, 1954, in Queens, NY, William lived in Meriden, CT and several other states before moving to Mentor 49 years ago.
He was employed at Pace Engineering in Willoughby for many years until his retirement in 2021. William proudly served in the U.S.M.C. for 4 years. He was a longtime member of the VFW and proudly celebrated 34 years of sobriety.
William was the beloved husband of Elvira R. (nee Cavallaro) Ludemann, whom he was married to one month short of 49 years; loving father of Jean (Dean) Day and Bradley (Valarie Ruta) Ludemann; cherished grandfather of Emma and Brooklyn Day; brother of Irene Ludemann, Helen (Alan) Lange, Bruce (Mary Joy) Ludemann, Thomas Ludemann, RoseAnne (Gary) McMorran and Joseph (Holly) Ludemann; brother-in-law of Vincent (Barbara) Cavallaro, Dennis (Bonnie, dec.) Cavallaro, Rose (Michael, dec.) Smith and Kathleen Cavallaro; Godfather of Mackenzie Gardner; best friend of Karl Kennedy; nephew of 2 aunts; uncle of many nieces and nephews; and cousin of many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Mildred H. (nee Savage) Ludemann Sr; brother, Michael Ludemann; and mother and father-in-law, Larry V. and Jean R. Cavallaro.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Rt. 615, N. of Rt. 2), Mentor, with a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Friday, April 18, at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland.
