William Mack Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory on Jan. 22, 2026.
William H. "Bill" Mack, age 93, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Bill was born on April 11, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio, the third child and first son of the late Edwin Mack and Ida List (Mack).

Bill was a graduate of Fairmont High School in Kettering, Ohio, where he met and eventually married his sweetheart, Carol McCarthy. Their union blessed them with four beautiful children, Kathleen, Karen, Patricia, and Robert who in turn blessed Bill and Carol with six loving grandchildren, Eric, Kyle, Olivia, Haley, Kasey, and Harrison.

Bill was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Coast Guard manning the Watch Hill Lighthouse US Coast Guard Station in Narragansett, Rhode Island. After his Honorable Discharge, Bill attended General Motors Institute of Technology and began a 30+ year career as a toolmaker, first at AC Delco in Flint, Michigan, and then at General Motors Inland Division in Vandalia, Ohio.

Upon retiring in 1987, Bill and Carol set their sights on the sand and surf of Florida's West Coast and settled in Englewood, Florida, enjoying golf, pool time, beach living, and the endless joy of living in the Sunshine State. As a result of Bill's farm life upbringing and career of craftsmanship, Bill was exceptionally handy and embarked on a part-time career as the neighborhood and family handyman while Carol pursued real estate. With the arrival their first grandchild, Bill and Carol moved to Georgia in 1993 to be closer to family and settled into the Roswell, Georgia community.

Bill lost his beloved Carol on May 5, 2024, and is also preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Ida, his siblings Patricia Hedges, Marianne Zimmer, Donald Mack, and his grandson Harrison Mack.

He is survived by his four children: daughters, Kathleen Mack, Karen Mack, Patricia Mack-Solden, and son, Robert Mack, along with his five grandchildren.

Per Bill's wishes, there will not be a formal burial ceremony. His family will celebrate his life and reunion with his beloved Carol privately at a future date.
