William Roland "Bill" Massey, Jr. passed away at his home on October 28, 2025. Bill was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina on April 8, 1950. He was proceeded in death by his father William Roland Massey, Sr. his mother Laura Camp Massey, and a special Aunt Lillian Camp Moody. Bill is survived by his loving wife Rose Willey Massey, his son Michael Craig Massey (Ronda), two grandchildren Michael Craig Massey, Jr. Kaylinn Rose Massey, one great grandchild Haydin Massey, and a sister Jane Powers of Manassas, Va.
Bill married his high school sweetheart, Rose. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage and their son Michael. Bill began employment at Harrington Manufacturing in Lewiston, NC in 1969. He was one of the early employees of Airmold WR Grace when the company opened the Weldon, NC plant. He ended his work career with 27 years of employment with Livingston and Haven based in Charlotte, NC. Bill had the desire to work outside of his comfort zone and gain new skills. His employment path took him from mechanical drafting to engineering design with years of focus on hydraulic design and sales. He made many life -long friends during his careers which included his work associates, suppliers, customers and even lasting respect and fellowship with his competitors. He was a man of character and integrity.
Bill was passionate about golf and worked hard on having a good game while enjoying the challenge that the game instilled in him. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Chockoyotte Country Club in Weldon. Throughout the years he tried hard to support the club with his desire to serve on committees and several terms of leadership on the board. Bill's "golf buddies" were a special part of his life. His love for golf enlarged his circle of golf friends including Ohio, South Carolina, and North Myrtle Beach.
Bill was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church in Gaston. He served on the Trustees and the memorial committees.
Funeral Services will be conducted at Shiloh Methodist Church, Gaston, NC on Saturday, November 1 at 2 pm with the Rev. Norma Roberts and Rev. Rick Russell officiating. A reception will follow the service at Chockoyottte Country Club in Weldon, NC. Burial services will be conducted at 2 pm on Sunday, Nov 2 at Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, NC.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice & Palliative Care of Nash General Hospital for their compassionate and professional care, their North Shore Neighbors, many friends, and the Shiloh Church Family.
