William Edgar Mays Jr., 76, passed away on Fri. May 3, 2024 at his home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held on Sun. May 5, 2024 from 1pm-3pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 3pm on Sun. May 5, 2024 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS.
Mr. Mays was born on Oct. 4, 1947 in Jackson, MS to the late William Edgar Mays Sr. and Ruby Carol Watkins Mays. He served his country as a 1st LT in the United States Army. Mr. Mays retired after 40 years as President of Surplus City. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Brandon, MS.
Mr. Mays is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ann “Becky” Mays; 4 children, William Edgar Mays III (Carla), Amanda Katherine Jessop (Steve), Angela Byrd (Glen) and Kenny Dawson; 4 siblings, Richard Mays, Myra Hardy, Cindy Godbold and Ben Mays; 6 grandchildren, Bradley Kyle Scarborough, Matthew Sean Mays, Sarah Marie Mays, John Taylor Byrd (Jennifer), Allen Tyler Byrd (Sarah Grace), Kristi Alana Thompson (Brandon) and 6 great grandchildren, Mary Leigh Byrd, John Dawson Byrd, Mia Grace Byrd, Boone Allen Byrd, Lily Ott and Anna Michelle Thompson.
