William, often affectionately referred to as Bill, was an avid fan of Indiana University Basketball and held a deep passion for college basketball. His enthusiasm for the sport often brought friends and family together, fostering a sense of camaraderie that he valued immensely.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Russell and Cecelia McDermott, and his brothers, Martin, Bo, and Kenneth. Their love and guidance shaped his character, leaving a lasting impact on his life.

William is survived by his nieces and nephews: Martin, Cathy, John, Suzanne, Bill, Russell, Vivian, Michelle, Kevin, Cece, Sheila, Mike, Richard, and Eddie. Their support and affection provided him with joy and fulfillment in his later years.

Friends, family, and all who knew William are invited to pay their respects during the visitation scheduled for March 4, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 925 E Hanna Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. This will be followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM, concluding at 12:00 PM at the same location.
