William Millsaps Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Inc. - Madisonville on Dec. 29, 2025.
William Charles "Papaw Moo" Millsaps, age 80, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, December 28, 2025. He was surrounded by his family at the home of his granddaughter when he ran steadily into Heavens gates. He is leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and family that will endure for generations. Born on April 10, 1945, he was a man whose life was defined not by grand gestures, but by steady presence, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family.
He was a proud and loving father to his children: Peggy Borden (Jerry), Jimmy Millsaps (Sheila), and Chris Millsaps. As a father, he led by example, hardworking, dependable, and always there when his family needed him most.
He was an amazing grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his grandchildren: JJ Millsaps (Stacy), Kattie Smith (Justin), Mary Cooper (Tristan), Seth Stokes (Kelsie), Christopher Millsaps (Sheridon), Ricky Vance, Christopher Vance, and Ashley Colvin. Each held a special place in his heart, and he took immense pride in watching them grow.
He was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Autumn, Grady, Aiden, Cason, Carley, Maddie, Lorelei, Camilla, Torin, Eldred, Amelia, Hank Charles, Alex, Bobbie Jean, Johnny Ray, and Marshall. Great Great Grandson: Easton. His eyes always lit up at the sound of little feet and laughter, and nothing brought him more joy than having his family together.
He is also survived by his brother, Buddy Millsaps of Valdosta, Georgia, along with several nieces and nephews, including a special bond with his nephew, Larry Sparks.
He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 55 years, Sherry, his parents Roscoe and Irene Millsaps, and his siblings Gene Millsaps, Brenda Sparks, and Ruth Tipton, all of whom he now joins in eternity.
Charlie will be remembered for his steady wisdom, gentle humor, and the way he made everyone feel safe, loved, and at home. His life was a testament to hard work, family, and enduring love. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the family he built.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 2nd, 2026 at 3pm at Williamson Chapel United Methodist Cemetery, Rev. Bill Dixon officiating. Arrangements by Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
