William J. Mitchell, age 83, of Taylor, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 23rd, 2025. Born in McDowell, Kentucky, William lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to loved ones, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

A true jack of all trades, William was known for his resourcefulness and ability to tackle any project placed before him. He found great joy in bluegrass music and the tradition of coon hunting, passions that reflected both his roots and his love for the outdoors.

He is survived by his children, Cheri and William II; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brandon, Austin, Devan, Brooke, and William III; and his great-grandchildren, Alice, Levi, Colton, and Jax. William also leaves behind his brothers, Thurman, Phillip, and Harmon Jr., and his sisters, Elsie and Brenda Lou.

He was preceded in death by 19 beloved siblings, and his parents, Frankie and Harmon.

William will be remembered as a man of integrity, resilience, and unwavering dedication to his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, and his memory will be cherished always.

Visitation Friday, September 26, 2025 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Taylor Chapel of Voran Funeral Home, 23750 Goddard Road. (313) 291-1800. Funeral service Saturday 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery. Please share memories and/or leave condolences on William's guestbook on his tribute wall.
