Santa Maria - William "Bill " Moffatt of Santa Maria passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and a sincere connection with others.

Bill, the son of Philp and Jean (Jamison) Moffatt, grew up in Sacramento, where he met and married the love of his life, Judy, went into the car business, and began raising three children. In 1976, Bill and his family moved to Santa Maria, where he partnered with his friend Chuck Hebard to start Central City Leasing.

For more than 40 years, Bill proudly ran Central City Leasing as much more than a place of commerce. It was a cornerstone of the community, and a reflection of who he was-reliable, welcoming, and deeply invested in the people around him. Generations of customers knew they could count on his honesty, hard work, and his warm smile.

Bill was also a founding member of Community Bank of Santa Maria, another institution rooted in trust, local values, and community growth. His vision and leadership played a vital role in strengthening the economic foundation of Santa Maria.

Above all, Bill will be remembered for the way he made people feel. He was unfailingly warm, happy, and kind-a man who greeted everyone as a friend and treated everyone with respect. He had a natural ability to bring people together, and his laughter, generosity, and positive spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Judy, his parents, and his two sisters, Julie and Ann. He is survived by his three children, Brett Moffatt (Anne), Jennifer Monson (Eric), and Suzi Rhyne (Kevin); his grandchildren Zee, Andrew, Willa, Stephanie, Addie, Max, and Jack. Bill's memory will remain a blessing to his family, friends, and the community he so faithfully served. A Celebration of Life will be held to honor and remember Bill on Saturday, February 21st, at The Foxenwoods Tennis and Swim Club. Guests are welcome to come anytime between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to celebrate his life.
