William John Moody, III (Bill), 70, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Angel Hospital in Franklin, North Carolina.
He was a native of Jacksonville, Florida and son of the late William John Moody Jr. and Annie Mae (Andrews) Moody. Graduating from Englewood High School in 1972, he also graduated from UNF with a Bachelor's degree in marketing. He married his sweetheart, Karen Center on March 17, 1973 and was married 52 years.
He had a 53 year long career in the insurance industry, and retired as president from Great Atlantic Sales in December of 2024. Bill was a faithful member of Glen Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Glen St. Mary, Florida for over 20 years, and then Faith Primitive Baptist Church in Toccoa, Georgia for three years. He loved leading singing at both churches.
Bill was an avid US history buff, and enjoyed watching his deer and squirrels from the porch of his North Carolina mountain home. He loved hunting, woodworking, camping with his wife, and watching the Georgia Bulldogs during college football season. Bill loved his family and enjoyed anytime his grandchildren and great grandchildren were with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a step grandson, Ethan Painter.
Surviving family include his wife, Karen Moody; 1 daughter: Mary Ann (David) Loudermilk; 2 sons: William (Ayla) Moody, and John (Erin) Moody; 6 grandchildren: Emily (Elijah) McMahan, Hannah Moody, Ben (Hannah) Sebolt, Deanna Moody, Abby Sebolt, and Alex Moody; 2 great grandchildren: Avery McMahan, and Levi Sebolt; 3 step grandchildren: Myles Hays, Leo Hays and Natasha Spink, extended family and friends.
Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Peeples Funeral Home, 14165 N. Main Street with Brother Arnold Johns and Brother Ted Crews, officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
