William Moye Obituary

Entered into rest Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Brandon Wilde, Evans, Georgia, Mr. William Charles "Charlie" Moye, loving husband of 67 years to Pat Moye. Other family members include: Sons – William Scott Moye-Rowley (Mary), David Armstrong Moye (Christine). Daughter – Susan Moye Hardy (Kris). Grandchildren: Michael Charles Moye-Rowley, Kevin James Moye-Rowley (Danielle), Jane Lauren Moye-Rowley, Kris Thomas Hardy, Jr. (Kelsey), John William Hardy (Allie), ElizabethAnn Hardy, Charles James Moye, Lucy Marie Moye, and Wesley Armstrong Moye. Great Grandchildren: Thomas Allen Hardy and William Douglas Hardy. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law Brenda and Woody Hale.

Charlie was pre-deceased by his mother and stepdad Veda and Heyward Graves. Charlie was born (October 7, 1936) and raised in the farming community of Omaha, Illinois. After graduating from Norris City High School, he earned his bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University and his master's degree and PhD from University of Illinois. Upon graduation, Charlie enjoyed an 18-year career with Shell Oil Company (chemical division) that included stops in Modesto and San Ramon, California, Atlanta, New York, London and Houston. Charlie was then recruited by Columbia Nitrogen in Augusta, Georgia, which was then acquired by DSM Chemicals. He enjoyed another 18 years with DSM, completing his 36-year business career as the US President of DSM Chemicals. Retirement brought volunteerism and travel. Charlie served as a board member of the Augusta Museum of History, the Augusta Symphony Endowment, and the Morris Museum of Art. He was a 30-year member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club. As an Elder at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, Charlie served as a lay reader, on the outreach committee, and various other roles. Charlie and Pat's travels took them to China, Europe, Alaska, summers in Lake Chautauqua, New York, and many other destinations in between. Charlie enjoyed the written word more than most. A lifelong subscriber of the Augusta Chronicle, his beloved Wall Street Journal, and the Sunday New York Times, Charlie also curated an impressive personal library full of fiction and non-fiction, alike. He also enjoyed country music – especially Johnny Cash – and baseball, his boyhood team the Cardinals and his adopted Braves.

His memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Boyd Lien officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.

Memorials may be made to Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, 2261 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904.
