William F. Nitchman, 83, of York, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025. He was the devoted husband of 49 years to the late Beverly A. (Feeser) Nitchman, who preceded him in death in 2017.

Born in York on July 18, 1942, William was the son of the late Levere Nitchman and Mary Grace (Campbell) Engle. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, William worked as a machine operator for Caterpillar Tractor Company, retiring after their closing.

William found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved working on puzzles, reading, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. A car enthusiast, he especially enjoyed Corvettes.

He is survived by his daughter, Tina Holmgren and her husband James; and his son, Craig Nitchman and his wife Beth. William was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Veronica Nitchman, Patrick Holmgren and his wife Jackie, Julia Nitchman, Daniel Holmgren and his wife Lexi, Grace Nitchman, Jonathan Holmgren, and Grant Nitchman; and a great-grandfather to his cherished great-granddaughter, Freya Holmgren. He is also survived by his sisters, Karen Cronauer and her husband Don, and Beverly Pfeiffer and her husband Fred, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, William was preceded in death by his sister, Rosemary Unger.

A private graveside service will be held by the family at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
