Edward Daniel "Ed" Baker, at the age of 71, left this earth and entered heaven on Monday, November 3, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. He was the devoted husband of Kim M. (Morton) Baker, with whom he shared many cherished years of marriage.
Ed was born on June 21, 1954, in York, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Eleanor LaRue (Weston) Baker and Edward Earnest Baker. He grew up in Allentown and York County, Pennsylvania, where he developed a love for nature, animals, and adventure. A proud 1972 graduate of Dallastown High School, Edward was a dedicated student and a talented wrestler, placing twice as a sectional champion-an early reflection of his lifelong determination and drive.
In his youth, Ed worked as a farmhand, a line cook in his father's restaurant, and a stone mason. He was a man of many trades and talents, and throughout his life he continually sought knowledge and wisdom through his many experiences and interests.
By his early thirties, he had established a strong and respected career in the automotive industry. He advanced from salesman to used car manager, new car manager, general manager, partner, and ultimately owner of Beasley Ford Lincoln (formerly Carl Beasley Ford). Ed excelled as both a salesman and business owner, due in part to his friendly, social nature and his ability to make others feel at ease. His leadership, professionalism, and genuine care for people earned him the respect and friendship of countless colleagues, employees, and customers alike.
Ed enjoyed hunting, spending time outdoors, and being with friends and family. He found peace and joy in nature-especially while turkey hunting, one of his favorite pastimes. Always happiest when working with his hands, he enjoyed any opportunity to be outside.
Above all else, he treasured time spent with his family, who were the center of his life. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend who loved the Lord. His care and selflessness were evident in the way he interacted with others and in how he lived his life. Known for his sociable nature and easy laugh, Ed made friends wherever he went and valued the many relationships he built over the years.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Kim; his daughters, Emily R. Blessing and her husband Harry, Barbara L. Eckhart and her husband Josiah, and Rachel L. Snyder and her husband Garrett; his bonus daughter, Cici Liu and her husband Qilong Huang, and their children, Dora Huang and Dylan Liu. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Rebeka Blessing, Christina Blessing, Anna Blessing, Emma Blessing, Harlow Snyder, Nohl Snyder, Thea Eckhart, and Arthur Eckhart.
Ed also leaves behind his sisters, Deana Murphy, Susan Banks, and Wenda Sneeringer, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Godfrey.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, November 11 at Genesis Church in York. 5:00 to 5:30 P.M. will be the refreshment and social time. 5:30 to 7:00 PM will be the service. Family and friends are invited to share memories and visit with the family beginning at 5:00 P.M., prior to the service. A private graveside service for family will be held earlier in the day.
