George Protron Nitchman passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in St. Robert, Missouri on May 12, 2023. He was born on January 28, 1946 in Saint Louis, Missouri to his parents Myrtle and Charles Nitchman. He had a twin brother John, and 4 other brothers; Robert (Bob), Edward, Harold, and Richard. He graduated from Riverview Gardens in 1964. He immediately went on to work at National Cash Registers (NCR) where he repaired cash registers.  A year and a half after he graduated high school, he was drafted by the army for 2 years. After his service, he returned to NCR. In high school he joined the Demolay where he met his future spouse Beverly J. Nitchman. George and Beverly went on to have two children together, Daniel N. Nitchman and Denise A. Nitchman. Years later, George and Beverly amicably divorced and had a close friendship until the end.

After the divorce, George stayed at NCR for a while, totaling 30 years with the company, and then moved on to a number of other jobs such as a tech with AT&T, a security guard at Busch Stadium, and fixing computers for people. In his spare time, he joined the St. Louis Theatre Organ Society because of his love of the organ and piano. George also enjoyed fishing, playing chess, telling an endless line of jokes that made everyone laugh, and going to St. Louis Cardinal games. His son Daniel went on to make a career out of the military and he was beyond proud of him. His Daughter Denise made him a grandpa with Sarah M. Nitchman, Selena N. Schoonover, and John R. Konieczski. He loved his grandkids and even let Denise live with him after Sarah was born. He loved to show his magic and sleight of hand tricks to his grandchildren and play games like chess and checkers with them. He was the greatest, most caring grandpa to his grandchildren and they will cherish that forever. He will be deeply missed by everyone in his family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nelle and William Nitchman, and Estella and Benjamin Richey; his parents Myrtle and Charles Nitchman; and his brothers, Bob, Edward, Harold, and Richard. He was also preceded in death by his ex-wife Beverly Nitchman. He is survived by his children, Daniel and Denise; his grandchildren, Sarah, Selena, and John; and his brother, John.
