William "Bill" Charles Nixon, 77, of West Plains, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025. He was born on January 28, 1948, in Clay City, Kansas, to the late Charles Herbert Nixon and Marjorie Ruth (Kimball) Nixon.
Bill was a man of quiet strength and steady character. Raised in Kansas, he once dreamed of serving in the military, but when health issues prevented it, he turned to college. After the tragic loss of his mother during that time, he stepped away from school to help care for his family and the farm-an early example of the selflessness that defined his life.
In later years, Bill made his home in Missouri, where he met his wife, Linda, and became a devoted part of her family. He was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed working with wood and metal, and he took great pride in caring for his home and loved ones. Even as he faced Parkinson's disease and cancer, he remained active, hardworking, and dedicated to those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Brian Nixon, Bonnie Nixon Maize; stepsons Wendell Jines (Amber), AJ Jines (Windy), Mitch Jines (Amy), and stepdaughter Anita Womack (Scott); his sisters, Betty Baker (Milt), Patty Gunslinger (Bob), and Cathy Anderson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Don and Richard Nixon.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, at Wortham Funeral Home – Oak Hill Chapel in Hardy, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
