William Donald Pearson was born in Somerville, New Jersey on Tuesday, June 7, 1938. He shed the burdens of this earthly world, gained his wings and entered eternal life on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
Donald, as he was affectionately known, was born to the late William Edward and Teddye Davis Pearson at Somerset hospital in Somerville, New Jersey. The family resided in Plainfield where Donald attended the Plainfield public schools. He graduated from Plainfield High school, attended Union County College and Newark College of Engineering. He was employed with the Plainfield school system for 38 years and retired in 1995. During this time, he was active in the community serving as a contract negotiator for the Plainfield school district union, a paraprofessional with Boy Scouts of America, an officer and member of the Optimist Club International and board member for the Union County Federal credit union.
In 1969 he met who would become the love of his life, Diane Juanita Kearney. They married in 1971 and enjoyed 54 years of marital bliss. From this union William Donald Perason Jr. was born. In addition, the Pearson household expanded with Al-Mustafa Johnson and Darlene Holland.
During their years together, Donald and Diane traveled extensively, visiting many countries around the world. One of Donald's favorite modes of travel became cruising. He also enjoyed spending his time with his family, reading, watching sports and gaming. Donald was a excellent handyman. He could fix anything and never allowed anything to be discarded until he had an opportunity to try and repair it.
Donald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Teddye, sisters, Jean, Barbara and Evelyn and brothers Joseph and Maxwell.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife Diane, sons William (Melissa) and Al-Mustafa, daughter Darlene, nieces Carol, Kimkya, Terri (Darryl), Leigh Ann (Dwayne), Lynn, nephews Joseph (Patricia), Jan ( Annie), Mark, Alexander, George (Kiya), grandchildren Jason, Skylar, Jada, Desiree, Rozzie, Diana, sister-in-law Marcia (Amos), cousin David ( Shannet) and a host of other cousins, family and friends.
