William Lee Pegram, known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 91. Born on May 14, 1934, in Wadesboro, NC, Bill's life was marked by his loving nature, selflessness, and passion for the things he held dear.

Bill's journey began as a spirited young man in Wadesboro, where his early life was filled with the joys of childhood and the formation of lifelong friendships. His athletic talent shone brightly, earning him a football scholarship to Wake Forest University. As Demon Deacons' #22 running back, he graduated with the class of 1958, leaving a legacy of sportsmanship and dedication on the field.

Following his college years, Bill served his country with honor as a member of the United States Air Force. His commitment to excellence continued into his civilian life, where he retired from R&L Carriers of Piedmont, SC, after a distinguished career. Bill's work ethic and camaraderie with his colleagues were hallmarks of his professional life.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ina Rae Pegram, his siblings Dorothy Donnelly, Robert Pegram, and Joe Pegram; his stepsons Edward Kirby Sr. and Bradley Kirby. He is survived by his loving children Stacey Lei Pegram-Huitt, married to Kevin of, Duncan, SC, William L. Pegram Jr. of Atlanta, GA, and R. Scott Pegram, married to Susan, of Winston-Salem, NC, and Bradley Kirby; his step-grandson Edward Kirby Jr. of Greenville, SC; his granddaughter Autumn N. Paul, married to Kaylee Cox, of Woodruff, SC; his step-granddaughter Destiny Huitt, of Lowell, NC; and his great-granddaughters Lilith Aspen Lee Paul of Woodruff, SC, and Violet Chastain of Lowell, NC. Bill also leaves behind his significant other, Rosa Shiver Decker of Gantt, SC, with whom he shared many cherished moments.

Bill's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. He found solace in gardening, taking pride in nurturing life with his own hands. His love for football never waned, and he enjoyed collecting windchimes, each one a melody of memories. Family was the cornerstone of Bill's life; he cherished every moment spent with them, especially at Cracker Barrel gatherings and at his home church, Rockvale Baptist Church, where he worshiped faithfully. Bill's favorite pastime was relaxing on the porch with Rosa, watching the sunsets and reflecting on the day's blessings.

Above all, Bill will be remembered for the love he poured into his family. His selfless nature made him a pillar of strength, and his passionate approach to life inspired all who knew him. Bill's legacy is one of unwavering love, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
