William "Bill" Philbin, born on August 14, 1940, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on September 17, 2025. Bill was a dedicated and hardworking man who devoted his life to providing for his family. He proudly served in the United States Army prior to his honorable discharge in October of 1962. Bill also spent an impressive forty years employed at the New York Stock Exchange on the trading floor, a role that showcased his strong work ethic and commitment to his profession.
Bill was a proud family man that stood beside his loving bride of fifty-nine years, Patricia Delaney Philbin. They both cherished the time spent with their three sons—Billy (Beth), Brian (Rhonda), and Kevin (Felicia)—as well as his beloved grandchildren: Erin, Chris, Brianna, Karli, Katie, Kevin, Jack, and Matthew. They also celebrated the joy of being great-grandparents to Rowan. Bill is also survived by several nieces and nephews. His love for his family was apparent in every aspect of his life, as he always prioritized their well-being.
A devoted music enthusiast, Bill was a passionate Frank Sinatra fan but also enjoyed listening to other genres like country music. He found great joy in playing the drums, singing, and sharing his talents with his sons.
Bill was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey and he and his family lived in Middletown, New Jersey, for several years before making their home in Nashville, Tennessee. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his hard work, and his kind spirit.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Helen Connell Philbin and Joseph Philbin, and his brothers, James (Joan) Philbin and Joseph Philbin.
A wake will be held on September 30, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 353 E Main St, Hendersonville, TN 37075. The funeral mass will take place on October 1, 2025, at Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church, starting at 1:00 PM, followed by burial at Hendersonville Memory Gardens at 2:15 PM.
