William Joseph Pitchforth, lovingly known as Bill, passed away at Exeter
Hospital on December 1, 2024, after a brief courageous battle with lung cancer. He was
born on January 31, 1955, in Exeter, New Hampshire, to the late Frederick Pitchforth
and Geraldine (Moredock) Pitchforth.
Bill was a 1973 graduate of Exeter High School. Following his passion for the
culinary arts, he earned an associate degree from the prestigious Culinary Institute of
America in Hyde Park, New York. His career as a chef took him to Marriott International,
where he excelled in his craft, delighting countless patrons with his skill and creativity.
A lifelong resident of the Exeter area, Bill spent ten years in California, where
he cherished time with his beloved children, Amy and Ryan. Upon returning to New
Hampshire, he continued to live life to the fullest.
Bill had a deep connection to the ocean and was an avid sport fisherman. He
loved lobster fishing and relished every chance to enjoy fresh seafood, especially
lobster. Over the years, he adored the company of his dogs, shared a special
appreciation for horses, and was a self-described "Cowboy-at-heart", often drawn to
classic Western films.
His love for cooking extended beyond his professional life, and he found joy in creating
delicious meals for those he loved. A devoted fan of 70's rock music, Bill attended
various concerts, making cherished memories. He will be fondly remembered by many
for his humor, laughter, and gift of storytelling.
Bill is predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Geraldine (Moredock)
Pitchforth. He leaves behind, his daughter, Amy Coyle and his son, Ryan Pitchforth, his
sister, Joy Cross, and his brother, Barry and wife Judith Pitchforth, and his
fiancée, Martha Sears.
No immediate services are planned. A private memorial service will be held in the spring
to celebrate Bill's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends and loved ones to honor Bill's memory
by enjoying a meal with family, appreciating the ocean, or listening to a favorite
70's rock song in his honor.

God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. It was good seeing him at our class reunion. Martha, he seemed happier with you on his arm.
