William Reed Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 5, 2024.
William Edward Reed, Sr.
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of William Edward Reed, Sr. "Ed", a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Ed left this world peacefully with his family by his side, at the age of 78 on March 2, 2024.
Ed was born on September 21, 1945 in Tampa, Florida to Irving and Susie Reed.
He was a pillar in his community and his earliest commitment to his country was in the Air Force where he served with distinction during the Vietnam War. Ed's professional life was marked by over four decades of dedication and service at Winn-Dixie, where he retired as Director. Ed found great pleasure in woodworking and crafted numerous pieces for his family and friends. Each gift he created was a token of his love. His biggest joy was his wife, children, grandchildren, friends, and family. He was intentional on filling their lives with laughter, stories, and endless love.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa "Terri" Reed; children, Tina (Daniel) Simons, William (Renee) Reed, David (Jessie) Reed; siblings, Marry Joe Keefe, Dottie Latimer, Barbara (Chuck) Adams, Larry (Tim) Reed; grandchildren, Sophie Reed, Christopher Simons, Laurel Reed, Hampton Reed and Elizabeth Simons.
Ed's life was one of devotion and generosity. He left an uplifting mark on many through his kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment to his family and friends. His departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy of love, courage, and integrity will live on in those who knew him. We mourn the loss of a truly remarkable man. Ed Reed was a beacon of what it means to live a life full of purpose, love and service.
A visitation for William will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. followed by the committal service at Riverside Memorial Park.
