William Ripps Obituary

William "Willie" Charles Ripps
July 15, 1952 - November 21, 2025
William "Willie" Charles Ripps, a devoted farmer and rancher from Von Ormy, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025. Born in San Antonio on July 15, 1952, Willie lived a life defined by his love for family, faith, and the land.
A proud graduate of Southwest High School's class of 1970, Willie dedicated his life to farming and ranching, carrying on the legacy of his parents, Edwin and Evelyn (Kramme) Ripps, who predeceased him, along with an infant brother. His passion for agriculture extended beyond his own family farm as he served for many years as a board member of the Texas Farm Bureau, advocating for the farming community throughout the state.
Willie was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Somerset, Texas, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy (Whitley) Ripps; his children, Kristin Tate and her husband Matthew, and William Charles Ripps II and his wife Samantha; and his cherished grandchildren, Brayden Tate, Emerson Tate, Harper Ripps, and Charlotte Ripps. His grandchildren lovingly referred to him as "Papa Willie".
Willie is also survived by his brothers, Edwin Ripps Jr. and Marvin Ripps (Carolyn), and his sisters, Lorene Hartl (Raymond), Evelyn Elliott (John), and Darlene Whitley (Patrick), sister-in-law Sharon (Whitley) Amaro (Miguel), along with numerous nieces and nephews who hold his memory dear.
Known for his warm and social nature, Willie loved engaging in conversations about farming and hunting, sharing his knowledge and passion with friends and family alike. His warmth, generosity, and enthusiasm made him a cherished member of his community.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Heritage Creek Assisted Living in San Antonio, Texas, especially owners Peter and Christina Varga, Amanda Couve, Cece, and their amazing staff of supportive caretakers. In addition, deep gratitude is expressed to Nightingale Hospice Care, Inc. for the compassionate and exceptional care provided during Willie's final days.
Willie's legacy of hard work, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

I met William once in Austin, Texas. Somehow our paths crossed and we came to realize that we both knew each other´s Dads. My dad, Alfred Ramos aka "Ramus" and his dad RIPPS. Both worked at Kelly Field. William was kind enough to mail me several pictures of my dad while working at KAFB. So sorry to hear of his passing. May He Rest in Peace and May the Light of God shine upon him.
