Dr. William Scott Russell, Jr.

April 6, 1936 – January 5, 2026

Dr. William Scott, Russell, Jr., 89, departed this life on Monday, January 5, 2026. Scott was born in Roanoke, VA, on April 6, 1936, to William Scott Russell Sr. and Lucy Brown Russell, who predeceased him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Amend Russell. Scott is survived by the two children of his first wife Mary Dodd Trammell of Miami their daughter, Mary Scott Russell, their son, William Scott Russell, III and his daughter-in- law Linda Russell, son John Egly-Russell, and his step-daughter, Tiffany Thompson, the child of Carol Amend; his grandson, Maximillian Scott Matiauda, Esq., (Miami) ; and two granddaughters, Sarah Mae Russell (Seattle) and Emily Russell ( Manhattan); and his sister Lucy Russell Ellett and her husband, Frank T. Ellett of Roanoke.

Scott graduated from Virginia Episcopal School, Washington and Lee University, and The University of Virginia Medical School. He practiced neurology in Miami and Clearwater, Florida, for many years, and while in Miami, he served in the Florida National Guard. He retired to a home on the water in the Florida keys where he continued to enjoy his life-long love of fishing and boating.

He enjoyed good mental health during his final days and was residing quite comfortably at East Ridge in Miami, with wonderful care and delightful neighbors. His favorite TV show was "Wicked Tuna" and he was surrounded by his fishing memorabilia, enjoyed his orchids, and all living things.

A memorial service will be held in Miami on February.
