William Savage Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Nov. 4, 2024.
William "Bill" Wiginton Savage, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on November 3, 2024 at the age of 94. Bill was born on October 13, 1930 in Norfolk County to the late William Wiginton Savage, Sr. and Cynthia Duval Savage.
After graduating from Portlock High School, Bill was drafted into the Army during the Korean War, where he served as a helicopter mechanic. After leaving active duty in the Army, Bill continued to serve in the reserves for a number of years afterwards.
Bill started in the insurance business in 1954 with his father. Bill was the third generation of a family insurance tradition which began with his grandfather's E.C. Savage Co. and culminated in a longtime partnership with Mr. Bill McPherson that resulted in Savage & McPherson Insurance Agency, Inc. which served the community for more than 30 years.
Through the years, Bill was active in various insurance groups, including several years as President of past Chesapeake Insurance Associations. He was a Deacon and faithful member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church for more than 30 years where he served on many committees. Bill was later a member of Bethel Baptist and most recently Great Bridge Baptist Church.
Left behind to cherish Bill's memory is his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy Goodman Savage; his daughters, Karen Reinmann (Brian) and Jennifer Luke (Robert); his grandchildren, Anna Reinmann Kauffman (Brandon), Noah Reinmann, Emma Reinmann, Aubrey Luke and William Preston Luke as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Sentara Hospice and Cedar Manor Assisted Living.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road Chesapeake, VA 23320 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Bill's life will be held on Friday November 8, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
