William Savage Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Congleton Funeral Home and Cremations - Williamston on Oct. 27, 2025.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain."
Revelation 21:4
William Henry Savage was born on November 30, 1949 to the late Edgar Lee and Mary Madgelene Savage. He transcended from this life to his eternal rest on Friday, October 24, 2025, at ECU Health Roanoke Rapids.
"Lil Buddy or Weed" as we all know him as was educated in the Martin County Public School System and graduated from EJ Hayes. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Martha Joyce Rodgers Savage. William was employed and retired with Williamston Peanut Factory and Fruit of the Loom. Upon his retirement from both jobs, he continued his love of fishing. He was a loving husband and a devoted family man.
William loved all things fishing related. He spent many hours at the pond or the river. He also loved the LA Rams and couldn't wait for Sundays to watch the games. He enjoyed the simple things life had to offer, but he touched many lives.
William was preceded in death by his son, Derrick "Guy" Spruill and siblings, Edgar L Savage Jr of Springfield, VA, Mary Lawler of Cheverly, MD.
"Lil Buddy" has one surviving aunt, Dr. Betty Jones of Douglasville, GA; four daughters of Williamston, NC, Gwanda (Kelvin) Speller, Gladys (Shelton) Nixon, Tonya (Keith) Brown, and Kimberly Rodgers-Hill; three brothers, Ronnie "Salvo" Savage (Beverly), Joseph "Hawk" Savage (Lossie), Johnny "Rabbit" Savage (Greta); 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews along with a host of cousins, family and friends.
