William "Bill" Scheurer
February 29, 1952 – December 27, 2024
William "Bill" Scheurer, age 72 of Shakopee, MN, passed away surrounded by family. Born in Mankato, MN, Bill was a proud leap year baby and the son of William and Ann (Trautmiller) Scheurer.
Bill began his career in heavy equipment construction alongside his father. He was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49. His dedication and passion for the field spanned 40 years, until his retirement with Bolander in 2011.
Bill had a vibrant personality and a wide range of interests. He was passionate about motorcycles, classic cars, music, his pets, spending time working in his yard, and spending time with his family and friends. A talented drummer, Bill played in a drum and bugle corps and several local bands throughout his life. Fondly known by nicknames such as Wild Bill, ZZ, and Billy, he enjoyed attending car shows and was particularly proud of his '32 Ford Coupe. One of his favorite traditions was attending the Back to the 50s car show each year with friends. He also cherished the many concerts he attended with his daughter Lisa.
Bill is survived by his loving family, including his son, Nathan Scheurer (Rene) of Prior Lake, MN; daughter, Lisa Bruns (Eric) of Chaska, MN; stepson, Matt Rice (Kim) of Shakopee, MN; sister, Julie Rein (Scott) of Shakopee, MN; and sister-in-law, Rita Scheurer of Hot Springs Village, AR. He was a proud grandfather to Zachary Edberg Anderson and Ryland Rice and a cherished great-grandfather. Affectionately known as 'Uncle Bucko", Bill also leaves behind his nieces Wendy Scheurer & Amanda Clark (Rein), nephews Josh Douglas & Jason Rein and his great nieces and nephews and cousins. He was a friend to many and deeply valued his relationships.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Steve and Jeff.
A visitation will be held at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation, 1220 3rd Ave. E., Shakopee on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM followed by a prayer service. An informal gathering will take place afterward at the Shakopee VFW. Private family interment Catholic Cemetery, Shakopee.
